Food Resilience School NZ — learn → apply → connect
Free kai-resilience learning for Aotearoa: courses, workshops, cohorts and certificates — the education path that sits between Troppo’s living forest and RegenOS land planning.

Comprehensive information
Why a school exists beside a forest
A demonstration plot can only hold so many visitors. Food Resilience School NZ extends Troppo’s teaching impulse into a free national learning platform — so growers from Kaitaia to Invercargill can build kai literacy without needing a Te Puke postcode.
It is not a replacement for mud on boots. It is the structured path: learn theory and practice, apply it on your own whenua, then connect with people and projects.
What the school offers
- Self-paced courses and SCORM lessons that resume on any device
- Workshops and events (including Bay of Plenty gatherings) with RSVP on the school
- Cohort groups and a community feed for shared questions
- Certificates that mark progress without turning kai into a paywalled credential mill
- Links into land planning (RegenOS) and the Kai Resilience directory when learners are ready to act and meet others
The pathway (by design)
- Learn on foodresilience.school.nz
- Apply with site observation and planning on RegenOS and the free Troppo grower tools
- Connect via Kai Resilience, Food Forests NZ and living sites like Troppo
That sequence is deliberate: knowledge → land decision → community. foodforest.org.nz sits in the knowledge band; the school carries pedagogy and cohorts.
Community engagement
Workshops, crop-swap culture and food-forest gatherings appear through school events and directory listings. Youth and community programmes at Vector Group treat growing as patience, contribution and ecological literacy — not only calories.
Honest limits
The school cannot substitute for local frost, wind and soil. Courses and this knowledge base are starting maps. Troppo remains the subtropical reference plot; your microclimate is still the final teacher.
