These terms govern your use of foodforest.org.nz (“this site”, “we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. Age requirement — 16 years and over
This site is for people aged 16 years or older only. Children and anyone under 16 are not permitted to use foodforest.org.nz.
By using this site you confirm that you are at least 16 years old. If you are under 16, leave the site. Parents and caregivers must not allow under-16s to use this site or send us personal information on their behalf.
This site is an open knowledge resource about food forests and related growing practices in Aotearoa New Zealand. It is connected with the Vector Group Charitable Trust (NZ registered charity CC45966). It is built by Te Puke Digital. It is not a landscaping business, nursery shop, SaaS product or professional advisory service.
2. Educational purpose only
Content — including guides, plant profiles, guilds, design patterns, case studies and resources — is provided for general educational and informational purposes. It is a starting point for learning and local observation, not a substitute for site-specific professional advice.
3. Growing outcomes are not guaranteed
Plants, soils, frost, wind, pests, water and management vary widely across Aotearoa. Information on this site may be incomplete, summarised or regionally skewed. Where we note uncertainty, treat it as a prompt for further checking — not a guarantee of yield, survival, cost or timeline.
You are responsible for how you apply any idea on your whenua, including plant choice, structural work, irrigation, chemical use and neighbour or council requirements.
4. Not medical, nutritional or legal advice
Do not rely on this site for medical, nutritional, veterinary or legal advice. Plant cautions, edibility notes and safety remarks are editorial pointers only — not clinical or regulatory guidance. If in doubt about eating, handling or using a plant, seek qualified advice and verify with authoritative sources.
5. Accuracy and changes
We aim for clear, honest New Zealand English and to distinguish practice, observation and untested ideas. We do not invent yields, testimonials or performance statistics. Content may still contain errors or become outdated. We may update, correct or remove material at any time without notice.
Suggestions and corrections are welcome via Contact. We prioritise safety notes, regional accuracy and source clarity.
6. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, text and original site design on foodforest.org.nz are provided for personal learning and non-commercial educational use with attribution to foodforest.org.nz. You may not copy the site wholesale, scrape it for competing products, or present our content as your own paid course or consultancy materials without permission.
Third-party names, logos, images and linked resources remain the property of their respective owners. Theme-derived visual assets are used under applicable licence terms held by the site operators.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the site if you are under 16 years of age
- Allow or encourage anyone under 16 to use the site
- Use the site in any way that is unlawful or harmful
- Attempt to disrupt, overload or compromise the site or related systems

8. External links and network sites
We link to related projects (for example Food Forests NZ, Troppo, Kai Resilience tools, RegenOS and Vector Group) and to third-party resources. Those sites have their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for their content, availability or how they handle your information.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by New Zealand law, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Your Consumer Guarantees Act rights (if you are a consumer dealing with us in trade) are not excluded where they cannot be.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vector Group Charitable Trust, Te Puke Digital and contributors to this site are not liable for any loss, damage, injury, crop failure, plant loss, property damage or consequential loss arising from use of — or reliance on — the site or linked materials. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law.
11. Privacy

13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we revise this page.
